Getting TWO
As many of you will know, in order to restore the canal a new section will need to be built to mitigate that which has been lost to housing development. From the feasibility study, we have a conceptual route from the old arm at Cosgrove to come down to alongside the River Ouse and under the A5 westwards, joining back to the original canal west of Deanshanger. This “new channel” requires a special kind of planning permission known as a transportation and works act order (TWO)
Following on from our recent lunch reception held at the Houses of Parliament, we now have a group working on this in partnership with CRT and the IWA along with government representation. We hope to be able to potential deliver a planning solution that covers multiple restoration projects and not just BCS.
We are however looking for a few folk to work on background tasks including archive research/analysis to support this.
So if you would like to get involved, please contact terry.cavender@buckinghamcanal.org.uk or mike.annan@buckinghamcanal.org.uk
