Gallery – Bourton Meadow
Bourton Meadow was the first stretch of the Buckingham Canal that we were able to re-water. This first happened back on 2013 following many years of clearing growth from the canal bed and towpath areas. A Bentonite clay liner was put into the bed and covered with soil After being in place for a year it became apparent that a chemical imbalance between the ground and the liner had caused it to fail. (Not our fault!). Subsequently in 2015 this was removed and a new plastic liner installed. Since then this area has become a popular nature and wildlife refuge. Regular work-parties are held here to maintain the stretch of canal and keep it open for the enjoyment of the local community.
