Help from The Parks Trust Youth Rangers

We have contacts with various groups and companies who come out and help us with our practical tasks. (Many thanks to them all). In September we had the pleasure working with the Milton Keynes Parks Trust and hosting two groups of their Youth Rangers for the first, but hopefully not last, time.

The Youth Rangers is a volunteer group for young people aged 11-17 interested in gaining hands-on skills and experience in environmental work. They do various activities all around Milton Keynes. As we have various contacts with The Parks Trust it was suggested that we may like to provide some work for them! The opportunity was not missed and with the assistance of Amanda Bailey, the Education Ranger at The Parks Trust, two groups of the Youth Rangers joined us for a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

parkstrustyouthrangers_3In preparation for the excavation of Bridge 1 at Cosgrove we needed to clear the vegetation from the area, erect safety fencing, and complete the temporary farm crossing. The rangers were very eager and energetic workers and with there help we accomplished much more than we anticipated. Many of the youngsters expressed how much they had enjoyed themselves.

We look forward to working with the Youth Rangers again in the future.
